Prototype 2 possesses an open world where players can do many things. After destroying the virus in the previous version, another outbreak hits New York City. Now, they call it by the name New York Zero. James Heller is the new protagonist and a sergeant. During the outbreak, he receives calls from his wife and knows mutated creatures that roam the streets again. Blackwatch returns to contain the outbreak. Unhappily, all family members were dead, and Heller rejoined the army. After being infected, he becomes the first protagonist with superpowers. New York Zero is divided into three zones, so Heller can roam freely to find many secrets and information about Mercer. The gameplay is not fixed when anyone can try the main storyline and have the freedom to explore.
